MY PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION
As a teacher I hope to provide students with a creative environment free of negative limitations and a broad definition of art, which will encourage them to find and pursue creativity throughout their lives regardless of formal skills and training. My students will come into my classroom every day aware they are in an open environment where they will be free of negative and limiting judgements and free to express themselves. As a teacher my students can expect to receive respect and be treated with maturity with the understanding that they treat me and their peers with the same. They will also be able to trust that I will take their individual needs into consideration in the classroom and for any outside of class assignments.
Students will leave my class understanding that art is an accessible hobby, form of therapeutic expression, and a possible career path. They will also come to understand that their creative and visual understanding skills can be used throughout life and in their careers as creative problem solving. As a teacher, I am happy to see my students excel academically and understand that art is not limited or solely defined by those who excel in traditional formalist mediums.
